APP welcomes University of Newcastle students

In early December we welcomed construction management students from the University of Newcastle to APP’s Newcastle office.

The students visited APP and other organisations as part of an “Office Crawl” to gain exposure to the industry and explore different career paths available to them.

Using our work on University of Newcastle’s NeW Space Campus as an example, we explained our role as Project Manager to the students and the different tasks an APP team performs on a project such as this.

Jordan Elliott and Adam Schipp, both APM’s at APP with degrees in construction management

Since joining APP’s Newcastle office in 2016 as an Assistant Project Manager, Jordan has worked primarily within the health and aged care sectors, where she values the opportunity to increase her skills in a complex live project environment. Jordan has a Bachelor of Construction Management (Honours) from the University of Newcastle and a strong background in planning and scheduling within the industrial and manufacturing.

Adam joined APP in 2015 as an Assistant Project Manager after completing a Bachelor of Construction Management (Honours) from the University of Newcastle. Adam has been involved in the project management of the new Newcastle Courthouse and the University of Newcastle’s NeW Space development, two of the city’s landmark projects.  Jordan and Adam spoke to the students about their responsibilities on particular projects to provide a deeper understanding of a career in project management.

We’re pleased we were able to provide University of Newcastle students some insight into a career in the construction industry and an understanding of the broad services APP provides to the property and infrastructure industries.
