We’d like to publicly congratulate Rose Ung who was awarded a merit last night in the NAWIC 2015 NSW Awards for Excellence, Project Manager Award for her involvement in the Parramatta Park Capital Works – Improvements Program. The award recognises the contribution of an individual project manager with respect to a project delivered in the last twelve months.

The judges said “the significant upgrade program has enhanced the experience of visitors to this UNESCO World Heritage Listed reserve, which also accommodates some of Australia’s most important colonial buildings. The NSW Department of Education has announced APP's appointment as Project Manager for the redevelopment of Arthur Phillip High School and Parramatta Public School.  More than $100M will be spent in Parramatta to build two new high-rise schools catering for up to 2,000 high school students and 1,000 primary school students, making  room for the anticipated increase in enrolments over the next two decades.

Regional General Manager Brett Hocking said “APP is proud to be part of this landmark project for Sydney’s west and the Department of Education.  We’re working across Australia with schools and universities on a variety of campus and corporate accommodation projects.  We’ll leverage that knowledge and experience to ensure best practice is delivered for these two schools.”

APP have recently completed, ahead of programme, the full repair and renovation of a 21,000m² fully operational industrial warehouse building, for Stockland at their Port Adelaide Distribution Centre in SA.

APP was appointed as Project Manager for the works that required intensive collaboration between the Contractor and occupiers to allow the repairs to be completed with minimal disruption to the tenants business. The building remained fully operational throughout the works.

The warehouse facility was in a degraded condition from prolonged exposure to stored fertiliser products. The high levels of corrosion required complete replacement of roof and wall cladding, shot-blasting and repainting of the structure and extensive repairs to floors, dado walls and services.

The repairs were successfully planned and construction works sequenced to allow the tenant to maintain their operational activities, at all times, through a staged decanting of their operations and provision of temporary works and protection.

The 2015 Pacific Games in Port Moresby have come to a conclusion with the host country topping the medal tally and getting full marks for staging the best games ever.  The APP team also took gold for their support in helping the organising committee to successfully stage a world class major event in Papua New Guinea.

Over 4000 athletes came from 24 countries to participate in both traditional sports such as weightlifting, football and athletics as well as regional specific competitions including Va’a outrigger canoeing and an open water swim. The concurrent ceremonies and cultural programme highlighted the incredible diversity and talent of not just the host country but other participating island nations of the Pacific through song, dance and visual arts.  The quality of facilities was another major factor in the success of the event with the PNG Government completing $600m in venue capital works including new stadiums, Games Village, pool and multi-purpose facilities.

Commencing in 2014, APP assisted the local games organising committee with venue readiness and planning advice around overlay, procurement, commissioning and workplace health and safety for the event. In the final crucial months, a team of APP project managers were present at the venues and Athlete’s Village providing site management assistance, event logistics and contractor management.

A key part of APP’s commission was information sharing and capacity building for organising committee staff with limited previous exposure to major events. Members of the games venue management team were invited by APP to attend Melbourne’s Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix this year, gaining valuable insight into elements such as overlay, spectator services, venue operations and look and signage.

With the 2015 Pacific Games a welcome triumph, the PNG government is now seriously considering a bid for the 2026 Commonwealth Games.

APP is pleased to announce the appointment of Sandy Baldwin to the role of Manager of Projects for APP’s ACT operations.

Sandy has over 20 years’ experience working within the Canberra construction industry. In particular, she has significant experience working with and alongside local and Commonwealth government departments in Canberra and is experienced with government funding and the procurement process.

Sandy believes “a quality project management service that is professional and team focused is key to APP’s success in Canberra. Everyone on a construction project wants to see it succeed. A project team needs to work together, and with an expert Project Manager at the helm, it’s hard to fail.” It is with this mentality that Sandy has delivered several construction projects for the retail, health, commercial office, and residential sectors.

APP CEO Adam Castro said “I’m delighted to have Sandy on board to continue the growth of our business in Canberra and the surrounding region. Her extensive knowledge of the National Construction Code, ACT planning laws and building approval processes are a valuable addition to our team on the ground in Canberra.

“The intent is that we are well placed, with Sandy’s local knowledge and experience, backed by a national organisation who is actively working with major players throughout Australia, to help clients maximise these kinds of opportunities on the horizon.”

8 Hopkins Street, Footscray is soon to become a landmark development. Boasting the largest development footprint in the precinct at approximately 14,000m2, it is expected to become a centre of activity in the community, capitalising on the central location and Warde Street extension through the site.

The development, currently pending approval, comprises of six residential towers, upon a four-storey podium offering townhouse-style dwellings with street addresses, carparking and retail offerings at street level. Additionally, in a first for Melbourne, the development proposes an amenities level that includes a pool, gymnasium, open-air gardens and an elevated 400m running track with 360 degree views of the city, ocean and greater Melbourne.

Developers Golden Asset, have appointed APP as Development and Project Manager on the proposed development. The project brief is based on two main principles: to provide an amenity, and facilities beyond current inner city apartment offerings; and through design excellence, create a landmark development to signify the centrepiece of Joseph Road Precinct.

APP’s role is to provide feasibility studies, strategic development delivery and staging, development programming, design management, sales and marketing, strategic advice and planning strategies for Golden Asset.

Footscray has become a hive of development and property activity with a number of transactions on significant land parcels in the suburb in recent years. Its close proximity to the CBD (3.8km), and its current industrial density, signifies it’s the next suburb to be gentrified.

Programmed to be launched to the market early 2016, this highly prominent development will exemplify quality community living in Melbourne’s inner west, Joseph Road Precinct.

BNE Property, Brisbane Airport Corporation’s property arm, is seeking expressions of interest for development groups to partner with them in the development of an all-encompassing automotive precinct.

The precinct proposes to include dealerships, servicing, experience centres, exhibition and conference facilities, offices, hotels, event areas and associated retail, all around a specially designed test track.

APP has been working with BNE Property since mid-2014 to evaluate the initial concept design for the development, including consideration of several delivery strategies and staging options to achieve economical delivery of the required earthworks, roadworks and infrastructure.

The “Automall” precinct will be an Australian first, providing an opportunity for potential purchasers to drive a car from the showroom to the test track. The purpose-built test track has been designed by Mark Skaife, five-time champion of the V8 Supercar Championship Series, for drivers of any level, to fully experience their new car in a controlled environment.

Located near Brisbane Airport’s International Terminal, adjacent to Moreton Drive and Airport Drive, the site has unparalleled exposure and accessibility, and will be a landmark development for both the Airport and Brisbane.
