APP negotiates lease and manages delivery of new QANTAS Headquarters
As Project Managers and Property Advisors, APP helped Qantas to deliver the base building upgrade, major refurbishment and fit-out of the Qantas Headquarters office accommodation at Mascot.
The new campus-style facilities delivers a modern, flexible and collaborative office environment for employees across 47,000m2 of refurbished space to consolidate what was previously seven leased buildings within Mascot.
APP took a lead role in the lease negotiation process to facilitate the refurbishment. At the time, the ownership of the property had recently changed with Cromwell Property acquiring the property on the basis of a new 10-year lease to Qantas. In order to support funding of the project, APP negotiated the commercial aspects of the new 22 year lease on terms favourable to Qantas - a challenging and complex negotiation. Both landlord and tenant were satisfied with the outcome and this enabled the project to proceed.
Following board approval early in 2011 and finalisation of the Development Deed, Qantas appointed a building contractor to finalise the design and deliver the staged refurbishment, with APP engaged as Project Manager. The result is an award winning state of the art corporate campus featuring an internal streetscape, auditorium seating for 120, plus a diverse array of shared work spaces for Qantas employees.
