Project details:

APP manages new retail precinct as part of The Star’s $870m transformation

APP was involved in the original 1997 Star City Casino & Hotel development as project manager.  APP was appointed by Echo Entertainment Group (formerly Tabcorp Holdings Ltd) in 2008 to manage the transformation of the complex into an internationally recognised entertainment destination.

The expansion included a high-end retail precinct (4,500m2), home to such coveted labels as Salvatore Ferragamo, LK Jewellery, Bottega Veneta, Chanel, Gucci and more.  Also included is a new Café Court showcasing local food identities Peter Kuruvita (Flying Fish and Chips), Adriano Zumbo (Adriano Zumbo Pâtissier) and Din Tai Fung.

Linked to the expanded retail precinct was a comprehensive up-scaling in the quality of food offerings to include dining by Stefano Manfredi (Osteria Balla), Teage Ezard (Black by ezard) and David Chang (Momofuku Seiobo).

APP’s initial role was in managing the early works, particularly the closure of existing retail, and also creating new access ways within the complex during construction.  Later, during the base building stage, the challenge for APP was to ensure that the Design and Construct specifications met the client’s needs for quality, all within budget.

To ensure this, APP undertook comprehensive value studies with Echo Entertainment Group, the consultant team and the building contractor, which ultimately provided a retail precinct that met both 5-star finish and budget objectives.

APP also acted as Tenancy Coordinator to manage fit-out of the majority of retail tenancies within the complex, including fashion, food and beverage and restaurant tenancies.
