T1 Domestic Terminal, Perth Airport

Project details:

With passenger numbers expected to grow from 14 million currently to 28.5 million by 2035, Perth Airport has been upgrading and expanding their facilities to meet this expansion, with a focus on delivering the best possible customer experience.  A key part of this expansion has been the construction of the new T1 Domestic Terminal and International Departures expansion, with APP providing project management services for this capital works project as part of our broader role since 2008.

T1 Domestic is co-located adjacent to the existing T1 International and is Virgin Australia’s Perth gateway into Western Australia, with a premium lounge, departures concourse and lounge areas, 12 gates, plus retail and dining outlets, baggage reclaim and ground level airport facilities.

The International Departures expansion accommodates wide-bodied aircraft such as the A380 and features an expanded international check-in area, generous departures lounge, significantly larger Immigration and  security areas, plus additional back-of-house facilities for international airlines.

Delivering these facilities in an operational airport environment  required extensive stakeholder management and a dedicated focus on the safety of passengers at all times. APP worked closely with Perth Airport to implement a very detailed OSH system which also minimised any disruption to the customer’s travel experience.  We also acted as Stakeholder Representative for Perth Airport in their dealings with tenants including Emirates, Virgin and all other retailers within the terminal.
