Brisbane Airport Link

Brisbane Airport Link

Delivering stronger connections between Brisbane’s CBD and Brisbane Airport.

The Brisbane Airport Link is a twin tunnel motorway and tollroad that connects the Brisbane CBD and the Clem Jones Tunnel with the East-West Arterial Road and Brisbane Airport. At the time of construction, the Brisbane Airport Link was Australia’s largest road infrastructure project and the longest road tunnel in the country until the M8 was built in Sydney.

The APP Group was appointed as Independent Verifier and Financiers’ Engineer for the project in association with Hyder Consulting. Our team were tasked with reviewing and certifying the design, construction and initial Operations and Maintenance period for this $4.8b project. Additionally, we reviewed and verified environmental management across each part of the project.

The Airport Link was a complex project due to its technical, environmental and commercial issues. The project included several key elements including the Northern Busway, a partly underground, two-lane, two-way road for buses only, to connect the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital to Kedron. The Airport Roundabout Upgrade also included a new four lane flyover, a high capacity interchange and widening of the East-West Arterial to three lanes each way.
