Pimpama State Primary College: Australia’s happiest school?

Pimpama State Primary College featured on Channel 7’s Sunrise as possibly “Australia’s happiest school” earlier this year, thanks to a range of positive staff and student initiatives. APP is also very happy with Pimpama State Primary College, having been appointed by the Department of Education and Training (DET) as Project Manager for their new two-storey general learning building.

The project comprises sixteen General Learning Areas, multipurpose breakout rooms and Outdoor Learning Areas. The initial first floor General Learning Areas facility is proposed for completion by the start of school in 2020. The undercroft design provides for an additional eight GLAs, as future-proofing to accommodate growth. Other features include an Art Store, Resource Store, Data rooms, PWD’s (People with Disabilities) and amenities on both levels, plus a covered link-bridge connection to the existing school.

In managing the delivery of the new facility, APP’s role includes maximising DET’s Design and Building Requirements to deliver a cost effective Schematic Design Project Plan, focusing on functionality and flexibility. Our project delivery team, led by Peter Fraser, will also undertake an Infrastructure Assessment for design flexibility, with a capacity for expansion or easy reconfiguration both spatially and for all services and equipment.
