Bruce Highway Safety Upgrade

Bruce Highway Safety Upgrade

Making Queensland’s major coastal highway safer and more resilient.

The Bruce Highway is a major highway that extends for 1,673 kilometres between Brisbane and Cairns connecting coastal cities, towns and ports with links to inland agriculture production. The Bruce Highway Upgrade Program is the largest road infrastructure project in Queensland’s history, and is designed to improve safety, flood resilience and capacity. The $13 billion program began in 2013 and is expected to be completed by 2028.

The APP Group was engaged across several projects for the Bruce Highway Safety Upgrade between Ayr and Townsville, including a 4km stretch of road close to Elliot Springs and the Billabong Sanctuary and a 14km section between Mailman Road and Killymoon Crescent.

The work included a range of project management, project controls, assurance and technical services to ensure the roads met high quality and safety standards required by the project.
