Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangement Gold Coast and Scenic Rim

Restoring essential public assets following disaster event in South East Queensland.

Communities within South East Queensland (City of Gold Coast and Scenic Rim Regional Council areas) were affected by severe storms, heavy rainfall, and flash flooding in September 2022. This was declared a disaster event referred to as South East Queensland Severe Storms (Event 23C). The Department of Transport and Main Roads required restoration of essential public assets and various state-controlled roads in the Gold Coast and Scenic Rim local government areas.

The recovery works are jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland Governments through the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).

The APP Group has been engaged to provide Contract Administration services. Event 23C works involve scaling of unstable rock on upslope and downslope areas, reinstatement of downslope damage utilising rock and gravel reconstruction and geotechnical stabilisation devices, and reconstruction of formation damage including pavement repairs, culvert remediation works, and batter and shoulder reinstatement.
