St Lucy's School

Providing more accessible and inclusive learning experiences for students with disabilities.

St Lucy’s is a specialised school for children with disabilities located in Wahroonga on Sydney’s North Shore. It specialises in a wide range of disabilities including mild to severe intellectual disability, autism and sensory impairments. In 2018 St Lucy’s announced an ambitious building program that would expand the school into the secondary years.

The APP Group was asked to provide Project Management services to deliver traditional learning and support spaces for the school expansion project. This included demolishing existing residential dwellings to construct a basement car park and a 2-storey general learning block. We also collaborated closely with St Lucy’s staff and occupational therapists to develop a unique design for the new specialised learning spaces which incorporated textured sensory walls, robust surface finishes, and digital technology to augment the learning experience.

I would like to thank you The APP Group for its excellent contributions as Project Managers to the successful completion of what we now call the Dominic Centre and De Porres House. We have appreciated the team’s strong commitment to the project, willingness to listen and take on board the specific requirements of students with disabilities in the building works.

As a result, we are delighted to have available for our students and staff a building that provides the best possible learning environment for our students to grow and develop to their full potential.
