Taree Courthouse

Taree Courthouse Redevelopment

Leading the redevelopment of a regional NSW courthouse.

The Department of Justice and Attorney General appointed The APP Group to Project Manage the redevelopment of Taree Courthouse. The Taree Courthouse redevelopment aimed to deliver an improved building with two courts (one local, one district), secure prisoner transfer, combined registry for court staff and sheriffs, judicial chambers, improved protected witnesses, jury assembly, jury deliberation rooms, and better public facilities including waiting space, court agency and interview rooms.

The project required a number of concept design iterations due to the confined site, budget restrictions, defined travel paths and local stakeholder consultations.  The APP Group pushed the principal consultant to produce a concept that met the requirements of the DJAG, stakeholders and users.

The detailed design needed to be completed in a short time period to meet the program. The APP Group worked closely with the principal consultant to push the design forward and achieve client approvals. The appointment of the principal contractor was through the NSW Government Procurement System for Construction. The APP Group managed the tender list process, GC21 contract tender, tender evaluation meeting, assessment and appointment.

The Taree Courthouse project included a number of Ecologically Sustainable Design initiatives, including rainwater reuse and energy efficient air conditioning with cross ventilation.
