WestConnex tunnel

WestConnex

Helping Sydney get moving again as part of Australia’s largest road infrastructure project.

WestConnex is Australia’s largest road infrastructure project. It was a key recommendation of the NSW Government’s State Infrastructure Strategy released in 2012. The APP Group is proud of its role in helping WestConnex provide motorists with a continuous 33-kilometre motorway network, all without traffic lights.

The APP Group managed the engagement process for industry partners for the Sydney Motorway Project Office and Baulderstone (now Lendlease). We led procurement processes for industry briefing and market sounding for Stage 1A (M4 Widening) and Stages 1, 2 and 3 of the WestConnex project. We also supported EOI processes for Stages 1A and 1B.

The WestConnex project has four key stages:

  • Stage 1 –Widening the M4 and extending from Parramatta to Haberfield
  • Stage 2 – Duplicating the M5 East from Beverly Hills to St Peters
  • Stage 3 – Connecting the new M4 at Haberfield and new M5 at St Peters
  • Stage 4 – The Rozelle Interchange project connecting the M4-M5 Link to Anzac and Iron Cove bridges and future projects linking to Sydney Airport, the North Shore, Northern Beaches and Sydney’s southern suburbs.

At the time, we delivered these services to the WestConnex Delivery Authority (now Sydney Transport Partners) and the NSW Roads and Maritime Services (now Transport for NSW). While we finished our role in the project in 2017, the final stage of WestConnex is expected to be completed in late 2023.
