At The APP Group, our people work together to identify innovative solutions and deliver results through expert advice, insight and leadership.
Since being appointed in 2021 as the Project Manager of the $835 million John Hunter Health and Innovation Precinct (JHHIP), our dedicated team has been crucial to the delivery of the project that is being delivered in partnership with Health Infrastructure, Hunter New England Local Health District and Multiplex Constructions.
The JHHIP project is complex as the scope includes significant mine stabilisation works and civil works, while building new road infrastructure and a brand new seven storey acute services building. All these must be integrated with the existing hospital – the major trauma center for Newcastle, the greater Hunter, and northern NSW communities, that operates one of the busiest emergency departments in NSW.
The APP Group has excelled in navigating these challenges by relying on our pragmatic and strategic approach, while fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment.
As team leader, Ethan Clark is responsible for the overarching coordination of all aspects of the project and ensuring the project aligns with the client’s vision. He also oversees Jade Moss, Kurt Boyes, Jack Madden, Nick Palmer and Daisy Bryant who bring a strong set of skills to the project.
Senior Project Manager Jade Moss has a keen eye for detail. She brings strong organisational and stakeholder management skills to the project, ensuring the design is developed in partnership with clinical users so that the highest quality major medical equipment is considered, and the spaces will best support patient care.
Project Manager, Kurt Boyes is focused on ensuring the latest technology is embedded into the new acute services building and integrating this with the existing hospital systems – a sometimes challenging task
Jack Madden, Nick Palmer and Daisy Bryant work hand-in-hand with builders Multiplex Constructions to focus on the detailed day-to-day operations that will ultimately deliver a world-class healthcare facility.
The collective dedication and collaborative nature of our team is the driving force behind the continued success on this project.
Construction on the JHHIP project is progressing well with the structure of the new acute services building now dominating the campus. The new road network is now operational and will significantly improve traffic flow around the campus.
The APP Group remains highly engaged with community, staff, clinicians and key stakeholders through ongoing consultation. We are committed to engagement with our Aboriginal community collaborating with staff, Local Aboriginal Land Councils and community Elders.
The acute services building is on track to open in 2026.
