Bridgewater Bridge
Connecting Tasmania’s northern and southern regions with optimised and safer transport infrastructure.
The current Bridgewater Bridge built in 1946 is a critical transport and freight link over the River Derwent between Bridgewater and Granton.
As part of the Hobart City Deal, the Australian and Tasmanian governments are jointly funding a new Bridgewater Bridge to replace the existing structure, which is reaching the end of its life. The new bridge will improve safety and reduce congestion for the thousands of people who travel across the bridge each day.
The new bridge will be the fifth built at the historic site, with the first bridge dating back to 1848. The bridges have been an important connection between the northern and southern regions of Tasmania. This project is Tasmania’s largest transport infrastructure project to date and is scheduled to open by the end of 2024.
The APP Group delivered transaction advisory and management services in the early stages of the project. The role included the development of plans and processes for the transaction and its implementation. The team managed sessions with potential EOI respondents and advised on how to achieve the project objectives.
