Revitalising layout for operational effectiveness at Red Cross Lifeblood’s Brisbane Processing Centre.

Lifeblood, funded by the Australian government, plays a vital role in providing life-giving blood, plasma, transplantation services, and other biological products. Serving over 25 million people across 7 million square kilometres, Lifeblood unites humanity to build a healthier nation. Beyond blood donations, Lifeblood excels in clinical care, education, and ongoing research and development. Their dedicated team of experts consistently delivers safe, high-quality products, working tirelessly to innovate in areas such as organ matching, tissue typing, and breast milk. 

As part of an extended master services agreement, The APP Group serves as the Project Manager for mechanical upgrades across multiple Lifeblood Donor Centres in Australia. Our team will also be providing due diligence, contract management, procurement management and asset management. The program of works at the Brisbane Processing Centre includes:

  • Revitalising and improving the flow and layout of Order Fulfilment and Customer Service Delivery functions for overall efficiency 
  • Refreshing level 1 and 2 cleaner’s rooms to enhance efficiency
  • Refresh Level 2 Office space to create an inviting workspace underpinned by ESG principles to include reusing, re-purposing, re-finishing or re-homing applicable items to provide a cost-effective solution
  • Designing and constructing 15 bespoke three-door freezers for Clinical Plasma storage
  • Mechanical Freezer upgrades which include replacing existing condensers, evaporators and associated pipework for two existing -40°C freezer rooms
  • Overseeing Security Duress Upgrades, access restriction points and security measures over three levels of the centre

Upgrading the Lifeblood laboratory infrastructure in their blood processing centre yields several valuable outcomes and benefits including enhanced compliance, safety and quality, aligning with safety regulations quality standards and environmental goals, and creating a more effective and sustainable laboratory environment.
