ANZ Global Headquarters

Designing workspaces for the largest single-tenanted building in Australia for ANZ.

ANZ is among the top 4 banks in Australia and is the largest banking group in New Zealand and Pacific, operating in almost 30 markets.  In 2006, ANZ was looking to build its new global headquarters at Docklands, a unique waterfront development in Melbourne.

ANZ appointed The APP Group along with CBM Project Management to project manage the expansive workspace which would house more than 6,500 staff. At the time, it would become the largest single-tenanted building in Australia, with more than 80,000sqm of open workspace across 9 levels. This included a commercial kitchen and satellite pantry, plus over 600 meeting rooms fully integrated with state-of-the-art audio visual technology for teleconferencing and media presentations.

The structure features a 10th executive level , a 240-person auditorium and specialised customer meeting suites, as well as bicycle facilities with space to accommodate nearly 800 staff who choose to cycle into work.

The project also included more than 3000sqm of retail tenancies. These house a diverse mix of food, beverage and service-based tenancies for ANZ staff and the Docklands community.

The building has achieved a 6 Star Green Star rating from the Green Building Council of Australia and since completion has won numerous national and international design awards, including the World Architecture Festival 2010 Award for Interiors and Fit Out.
