Bowen Wharf Replacement Project

Iconic Bowen Wharf receives vital repairs that will benefit future generations.

As part of the 2023-24 budget, the Queensland Government has allocated $50 million in funding to the revitalisation of the Bowen Wharf, not only to restore the wharf's structural integrity but also to potentially enhance its amenities and public spaces. The Wharf comprises of timber deck structure, with concrete piles, headstocks and head structures that are nearing their end of life.

The proposed maintenance and repair strategy for the existing structures is to undertake refurbishment of the existing structures to repair observed defects, and the significant repairs to occur at the 25-year, 50-year and 75-year mark to allow ongoing use with minor maintenance occurring in the short-term.

The APP Group was appointed as Project Manager to undertake stakeholder management activities, manage design consultants, assess project risks and ensure quality in all aspects of the project is considered, planned and implemented.
