Providing independent quality certification services for a critical bridge replacement project in the Kimberley region.
The New Fitzroy River Bridge project delivered a critical bridge replacement after the existing bridge was severely damaged by the floods generated by ex-tropical cyclone Ellie. The project involved the demolition of the damaged bridge structure and the construction of a new two-lane bridge and pedestrian crossing.
Piling works that form the foundation of the new bridge was driven 30 to 40 metres into the ground, more than double the depth of the piles supporting the old bridge.
The APP Group was engaged by Main Roads Western Australia to provide independent quality certification services for the New Fitzroy River Bridge project. The role covered the review and monitoring of project plans, construction documentation, and audit reports. The team also undertook site surveillance to evaluate construction compliance and quality.
We provided services for the project in collaboration with the Fitzroy Bridge Alliance, a consortium comprising Main Roads Western Australia, Georgiou Group, BG&E and BMD Constructions that has been appointed to deliver the new bridge.
The New Fitzroy River Bridge project is part of the Kimberley Flood Recovery program being undertaken by Main Roads Western Australia.
The Fitzroy River Bridge is located in the Kimberley region on Bunuba and Gooniyandi country.
The APP Group team have been positive contributors to the overall success of the project.
