Red Cross Lifeblood - Mechanical Replacements Program of Works

Delivering upgrade and replacement of mechanical works in Red Cross Lifeblood Donor centres across Australia.

Lifeblood, funded by the Australian government, is vital in providing life-giving blood, plasma, transplantation services, and other biological products. Serving over 25 million people across 7 million square kilometres, Lifeblood unites humanity to build a healthier nation. Beyond blood donations, Lifeblood excels in clinical care, education, and ongoing research and development. Their dedicated team of experts consistently delivers safe, high-quality products, working tirelessly to innovate in areas such as organ matching, tissue typing, and breast milk.

Our team was appointed the role of Project Manager for over 12 Lifeblood Donor centre upgrades and replacement of mechanical works across Australia under an extended master services agreement. The role of the Project Manager involves design management, procurement management, tender documentation, review and award, defect management and handover. We were also involved in project initiation where our team comprehended the current facilities and completed due diligence to ensure mechanical works were replaced and upgraded based on age and condition.

The upgrade of the mechanical services within several Queensland donor centres provided:

  • Improved temperature conditions for mission-critical activities, staff comfort and longevity of refrigeration equipment and perishables.
  • Zoned capability for improved individual comfort in small office and interview rooms.
  • Air conditioning systems that enhance efficiency and reduce operational costs.
  • New refrigerants for communication room equipment which has achieved a reduced global warming rating.
