Region Group National Solar Energy Project
Managing a national solar energy program for Australian shopping centres.
The Region Group is Australia’s largest owner of neighbourhood and convenience-based shopping centres, with 104 managed properties and nearly $5b in assets under its management. With a sustainability goal of reaching net zero by 2030, Region Group turned to The APP Group in 2022 to project manage a pilot program to increase onsite solar energy generation.
Our team delivered more than 6.2MW of solar generation capacity across six shopping centres in Western Australia, including Kwinana Marketplace, Warnbro Centre, Currambine Central, Treendale Shopping Centre, Kalamunda Central and Stirlings Central at Geraldton. As project manager, The APP Group coordinated the tender, managed procurement and oversaw the pilot project.
With the success of the pilot program, the Region Group continues to partner with The APP Group to roll out the next phase of its national solar program, beginning with 9 sites in Victoria and Queensland and then a further 16 across Australia.
It is important that we are playing our part to transition to a net zero world. Our continued investment in solar generation is one of the many steps we are taking to reduce our carbon emissions.
