Transforming Star City into an internationally recognised integrated resort and world-class entertainment destination.
Overlooking Darling Harbour, Star City Casino is the second largest casino in Australia. To expand the casino into a high-quality retail and lifestyle precinct, Star Casino Holdings undertook an extensive capital works program aimed at increasing the casino’s service offerings and capability to generate revenue.
The Star City expansion project included the reorientation of the casino towards the skyline, construction of The Darling Hotel, creation of a 5,500 sqm retail zone, and upgrades to the existing ballroom.
The APP Group was appointed as Project Manager for the Star City Casino redevelopment project. The role included managing complex approval processes, site amalgamations, and early works within the new retail precinct, in addition to ensuring design and construction specifications were met and coordinated with stakeholders.
The casino transformation also included:
- Replacing the old staircase with a new grand entry to the casino at the harbour side
- Additional VIP gaming rooms and upgrading existing VIP hotel suites
- World class restaurants have now settled in including David Chang’s Momofuku Seiobo, Teage Ezard’s BLACK by Ezard, Stefano Manfredi’s Balla, Chase Kojima’s Sokyo, Adriano Zumbo’s new patisserie, Flying Fish & Chips and Golden Century.
The substantial CAPEX at The Star, in conjunction with the extended exclusivity of the Sydney casino licence, have been executed on time and budget, a worthy outcome in the current environment of cost escalation.
