Australia Post Site Divestment Program

Managing complex environmental issues at multiple Australia Posts around Sydney NSW.

The APP Group was appointed by Australia Post to manage environmental issues at the Turrella, Seven Hills and Leightonfield mail centres prior to their divestment, as part of Australia Post’s corporate restructuring and centralisation of postal operations.

Our team managed a complex range of environmental concerns including:

  • Removal of fuel facility fixtures including underground storage tanks, oil/water interceptors and waste oil tanks at each of the three sites;
  • Liaison and negotiation with State and Commonwealth authorities including local Councils, Environment Protection Authority, Environment Australia and Sydney Water to approve all site works;
  • Negotiation with the Environment Protection Authority to revoke an Unhealthy Building Land notification on the Turrella site;
  • Cost and time management of contractors for all site works levels including removal of fuel facility fixtures, removal of contaminated soils and reinstatement of site;
  • Commissioning, consultation and management of environmental consultants and site auditors;
  • Providing communication strategies and planning, performance and update reporting to keep all stakeholders regularly informed;
  • Ensuring all works were carried out in accordance with regulatory and legislative requirements and ensuring protection of the environment and worker occupational health and safety was maintained throughout the projects.

The APP Group’s experience and comprehensive knowledge of the environmental industry combined with proven project management skills ensured a successful outcome for Australia Post.
