Upgrading flood immunity to one of Queensland’s largest road infrastructure programs.
The 1,673 kilometres Bruce Highway is Queensland’s major north-south road corridor, connecting coastal population centres from Brisbane to Cairns. This project is part of the Bruce Highway Upgrade Program and involves raising and reconstructing the Bruce Highway at Jumper Creek with stabilised pavements to provide flood immunity. This includes installing stormwater structures, intersection upgrades, road widening and installation of guard rails at high-risk roadside safety locations.
The APP Group was appointed to provide Project Management services including establishing recognised construction and quality standards expected by the QLD Department of Transport and Main Roads, environmental surveillance and reporting for works in the high-risk waterway of Jumper Creek, and road safety audit analysis. Our team provided comprehensive knowledge of contract documentation for Transport Infrastructure Contract -Construct Only Contracts and best for project implementation for the client.
This project was challenging when installing major crossroad stormwater structures within a high-risk Waterway Barrier Works Development subject to the requirements of the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries Accepted Development Requirements. Our team ensured conformance with the Department’s water quality monitoring and reporting requirements.
